Tallinn-based Verge Motorcycles unveils world's first motorcycle with all-solid-state battery
Tallinn-based Verge Motorcycles unveiled the world's first motorcycle with an all-solid-state battery at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. This is a new variant of their TS Pro naked roadster featuring a world-first solid-state battery that is said to be able to give 180 miles of riding range in just 10 minutes.
Verge Motorcycles has announced that two models with solid-state batteries will now be available. In addition, the company plans to completely abandon lithium-ion batteries, as the transition to solid-state batteries will extend the life of the battery packs and reduce the risk of fire.
Verge Motorcycles is a company that develops and manufactures electric motorcycles. It uses patented motor wheel technology integrated into the rear wheel. This eliminates the traditional chain or belt and allows for a larger battery to be installed in the bottom. The company is also developing the Verge Next platform for creating electric two-wheeled vehicles. It includes the Donut motor wheel, battery modules, control software, and an intelligent HMI system. The company was founded in 2018 in Seinäjoki under the name RMK Vehicle Corporation by Juha-Pekka Rintamäki, Teemu Saukkio and Ari Viemerö.
