Intellectual property of cargo bike manufacturer Hagen Bikes was acquired by Springdrive

The intellectual property of Estonian cargo bike manufacturer Hagen Bikes has been acquired by the Estonian company Springdrive, which produces electric bikes in Hungary under the name Blurby Bike.

Founded in 2014 by Taaniel Mägi and Kaspar Peek, Hagen Bikes manufactures both electric and non-electric cargo bikes. The non-electric bikes weigh start at 23.8 kg and have aerospace-grade chromoly frames. The cargo bikes can be used to carry children or groceries. The bikes are being produced and assembled in Tallinn.

Electric Hagen Bikes are equipped with batteries that provide an electric range of 70 km. A full charge will take 4,5 hours, and an 80% charge takes 2,5 hours. The bikes have GPS tracking to notify the owner on his phone if someone moves the bike, while it is locked. Bicycles can be adjusted with the help of different frame sizes, so they can fit both smaller or taller people.

Since the end of 2021, Hagen Bikes has been listed on the Baltic First North market. But in November 2023, it filed for bankruptcy, so it had to terminate trading its shares on the stock market. However, Springdrive has already restored the production of Hagen Bikes' box wheels, starting to manufacture them this year.

Springdrive, founded in 2008 by Ivari Kull, is also the parent company of the online store of bicycle spare parts and accessories rattaproff.ee. Blurby e-bikes are manufactured in Budapest. The bike's battery is placed in the bottom tube of the frame. It weighs less than 15 kg and has a maintenance-free, lightweight belt drive. Motor assisted range is 60 km.
