Estonian energy startup Gridraven signs a contract with Finland's Fingrid
Estonian energy startup Gridraven has signed a contract with Finland's national grid operator Fingrid. Gridraven's software will increase the capacity of the country's existing transmission lines by 30%.
The contract covers five 400 kV lines totaling 700 km and has an option to expand toward national coverage of 5500 km by the end of 2025.
Gridraven is a startup founded in 2023 in Tallinn, Estonia, by Georg Rute, Henri Manninen and Markus Lippus. Gridraven is developing Dynamic Line Rating technology based on artificial intelligence to predict weather conditions in specific locations. This allows energy companies to transfer more electricity annually through existing transmission lines. Gridraven has already successfully tested its technology together with the Estonian energy company Elering, accurately predicting the flow of electricity through a 110 kV transmission line in a wooded area.
Fingrid is a Finnish company that operates the country's national electricity transmission system. It is responsible for the transmission of electricity throughout Finland.
