Estonian AI-powered HR platform Wisnio was acquired by Swedish company Assessio Group

Estonian AI-powered HR platform Wisnio has been acquired by Swedish talent assessment company Assessio Group. The acquisition represents an exit for Wisnio's early investors from Estonia: Siena Secondary Fund, Spring CapitalStartup Wise Guys, and Metaplanet. According to public sources, Startup Wise Guys invested in Wisnio in 2016, Metaplanet invested in 2019 and Spring Capital in 2021.

Founded in 2015 by Alo Arro and Tonis Arro and headquartered in Estonia, Wisnio develops a platform for analyzing executive leadership teams and assessing the suitability of candidates for senior positions. The platform helps create insights for teams to engage and perform more effectively. In 2016, the startup was rebranded from Teamscope to Wisnio.

Users of the platform must complete scientific assessments, after which personalized profiles are created, which are then connected to a generative AI model. The employee can see in their profile specific insights on various cases, such as decision-making under uncertain conditions, strategic thinking skills, etc. Individual profiles can be combined into groups and used for team development, talent analysis, or for a team workshop. Wisnio's clients include executive search firms, private equity firms, and corporate executives in the UK and the US.

The deal will accelerate Assessio's global expansion, particularly in the UK and US. The Wisnio platform will gain access to Assessio's scientifically proven HR tests.

Assessio Group is a Swedish HR platform that provides tools to optimize the recruitment, development, and performance of both employees and managers. In 2023, the company was acquired by London-based VC Pollen Street Capital.

Siena Secondary Fund, an investment fund founded in early 2021, focuses on secondary market transactions with rapid growth in late-stage startups, providing liquidity to early investors, employees, and founders.

A venture company Spring Capital was established in Tallinn by Henry Treude in 2008. It has invested in Estonian-founded transportation company Bolt, Estonian-based smart pots Click and Grow, and Estonian solar-roof moduls Roofit.Solar and others. Spring Capital makes €75K-200K investments in startups from the Nordics and the CEE region.

Metaplanet Holdings is an early-stage investment firm of Skype’s founder Jaan Tallinn.
