European industry consortium led by Estonian Milrem Robotics receives €50M
A European high-tech consortium, led by Estonian company Milrem Robotics, has received €50M from the European Defense Fund (EDF). The funds have been allocated under the EDF 2024 competition for joint defense research and development.
The funds will go toward the consortium's project to develop the next generation of unmanned ground systems, which was submitted to the Defense Foundation as part of the 2024 Call for Proposals, was finally approved on the last day of April. It is a continuation of the iMUGS2 project, which was successfully completed in 2023.
Milrem Robotics is defense solutions provider. It manufactures unmanned ground vehicles and develops robotic warfare solutions. Among the main products are the THeMIS and Multiscope unmanned ground vehicles, which are intended to support dismounted soldiers also serve in forestry and firefighting.
The company was founded in Tallinn in 2013 by Kuldar Väärsi. In 2023, Abu Dhabi-based technology and defense group EDGE Group PJSC acquired a majority stake in Milrem Robotics.
