Estonian fund Superangel invests in Munich-based defense startup Project Q

Estonian venture fund Superangel has participated in a Seed round of €7.5M for Munich-based defense startup Project Q. Other participants in the round are Project A and Expeditions Fund.

Project Q is a Munich-based startup that develops and integrates software solutions. Intelligent systems created by the company operate in real time and help make decisions during defense events. Project Q was founded in 2024 by Frank Christian Sprengel and Leonard Wessendorff. 

Project Q will use the funding to develop the Q-Open Source Platform (Q-OSP), expand the team and launch projects involving European military and security forces.

Founded in Tallinn in 2018 by Veljo Otsason and Rain Rannu, Superangel focuses on pre-seed and seed investments in the Baltics and Nordic countries. General partners are Marko Oolo and Veljo Otsason. The Estonian investment firm focuses on artificial intelligence, robotics, energy, mobility, data and infrastructure. 

Project A is an early-stage VC firm with €1.2B in assets under management. It invests in pre-seed and seed rounds, supporting startups in sectors such as fintech, supply chains, defence, and autonomous systems. The company was founded in Germany in 2012.

Expeditions Fund is a venture capital fund founded in 2021, based in Warsaw, Poland. The fund invests in early-stage technology companies. Among the areas: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, privacy, biotechnology, defense technologies, quantum computing and others.
