Latvian fintech startup Upwood raises €50K

Latvian fintech startup Upwood has raised €50K in seed funding from US-based ZAS Ventures.

Upwood is a fintech startup founded in Riga, Latvia, in 2023. The company has developed a platform that provides access to forest assets through the tokenization of real assets. Upwood combines investments in forests, valuable tokens, and carbon credits in a single system. Investors purchase digital shares backed by real forests. Upwood's CEO is Lauris Borodovskis.

The investment will be used to further develop Upwood's products, implement its regulatory compliance roadmap, and enter the market. The company is preparing for the widespread rollout of its platform and obtaining EU approvals.
