Estonia launches program to introduce AI in all sectors of economy

The Estonian government has launched a national program called Estonia.ai, which aims to introduce artificial intelligence into all sectors of the country by 2035. The advisory board overseeing the program will be headed by Bolt founder Markus Villig. The council will also include Estonian entrepreneurs Sten Tamkivi (Skaala), Kaspar Korjus (Pactum), and Taavi Madiberk (Skeleton), as well as international experts and industry representatives. The first meeting of the Advisory Board will take place in April 2026, after which it will meet every quarter.

According to Kristen Michal, Prime Minister of Estonia, cooperation between the public and private sectors will enable the development of powerful new AI-based applications and technologies that are not available to other countries, and their use for the benefit of the national economy.

Estonia.ai plans to solve the problem of labor shortages through the use of artificial intelligence. This will increase Estonia's GDP by 50% by 2035.

For now, Eesti.ai will focus on several projects in the fields of industry, education, healthcare, energy, ecology, transport, finance, and security. They will be selected this spring. In the initial stage, funding will come from existing EU support programs and resources.
