Estonian cleantech Bioreactor closes its pre-seed financial round

Estonian cleantech company Bioreactor closes its pre-seed financial round, in which Finnish venture companies Grid.vc and Hiidenkivi Investment participated. The amount of the round is undisclosed.

Bioreactor provides a 45 kW miniature power plant for households and businesses. The plant presses bio waste, such as wood chips or agricultural waste, producing heat. This process is called gasification, which results in a mixture of gases - synthesis gas. That gas can be used as fuel for a combustion engine to generate electricity. The startup's installation also produces heat, which makes it useful for heating premises and water. Bioreactor uses technology in computational fluid dynamics, cloud-optimized digital twin, and deep learning algorithms.

Estonian startup will use this funding for the production and delivery of its first 25 pilot installations capable of generating 10 GWh of energy annually and for hiring new employees.

Bioreactor was founded by entrepreneur Kim Forsman in Tallinn in 2022.
