Estonian Fyma and LightCode Photonics secured investments from EIT Urban Mobility
Estonian motion analytic startup Fyma and deep tech company LightCode Photonics secured investments from EIT Urban Mobility, which is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Fyma received €100K, and LightCode Photonics - €200K. The deals were closed in December 2022.
Fyma is an urban analytics startup specializing in using AI computer vision technology to retrieve anonymized data from video feeds. It works with real estate developers and planners to help them use data for smarter decisions about urban environments, shopping centers, green spaces, or any built environment for that matter. The company was launched in Tallinn in 2019 by Karen Burns and Taavi Tammiste.
LightCode Photonics makes a Software-Defined 3D Camera to capture 3D images in real time. The startup's technology of 3D imaging can widen the scope of autonomous operations for service robots. With this Lightcode Photonics camera, a robot can have better vision and make fewer mistakes. The company was founded in Tartu by Jan Bogdanov, Andreas Valdmann, and Heli Valtna.
EIT Urban Mobility (UM) supports innovation to improve urban mobility and the creation of livable cities for all European citizens. EIT Urban Mobility established the department Impact Ventures, which is dedicated to providing support to European startups. It also includes equity investments. To date, EIT UM's equity portfolio counts 80 companies from the pan-European region, including Lithuanian Inbalance Grid and Walk 15.
