Estonian health tech Geneto OU changed its name to enter the personalized medicine market
Estonian startup Geneto OU changed the name of its lifestyle application from Elustiili äpp to Geneto Elustiil (Geneto Lifestyle) for faster growing and entering the personalized medicine market.
Geneto was founded in Tartu in 2016 by Jaak Sarv and Pille-Riin Meerits. The startup develops nutrition and exercise application based on a genetic test, originally created in cooperation with Estonian IT&Telecommunications company Elisa Eesti. Besides, Geneto cooperates with the Institute of Genomics of the University of Tartu.
According to the company, its application helps users to lose weight, eat healthier and avoid lifestyle diseases, taking into account personal genetic specifics. It also offers a nutrition plan, a nutrition diary with a barcode reader, monthly step challenges, and more.
Currently, it operates in Estonia, but it plans to expand in the UK, Finnish, and Polish markets. Among the company’s Board managers are Olympic athlete and medalist Jaak Mae and entrepreneur Priit Salumaa.
