Latvian VC BADideas.fund invested in Bratislava-based fintech Blockmate
Latvian investment firm BADideas.fund participated in a €1,5M round of Bratislava-based digital assets and cryptocurrencies management application Blockmate. Czech VC and private equity company Seed Starter of Česká a Slovenská spořitelna invested €760K in the startup. Among other backers were Prague-based Tensor Ventures, Czech investment firms DEPO Ventures, Token Ventures, ZAKA Ventures, and US Diaspora Ventures.
Founded by Andrej Coplák and Peter Lauber, Blockmate is an open-crypto API platform that integrates and connects users' crypto data to a single unified API. The startup's software allows tracking of digital assets and cryptocurrencies and provides aggregated financial views for crypto accounts, transactions, and balances with exchange rates. It is possible to categorize and label transactions on the platform.
The startup's API platform can connect over 95% of crypto accounts and over 40 exchanges. Furthermore, Blockmate's technology uses the open banking standard to connect millions of cryptocurrency users with over 25K existing fintechs that already use this standard in their solutions. Blockmate allows users to screen every crypto transaction for money laundering risks, illegal financial flows, suspicious activity, or potential threats.
Launched in April 2022, BADideas.fund focuses on pre-seed and seed-stage startups from the Baltics and CEE region. The typical ticket size is €100K. The fund has more than 40 business angels, founders, executives, and employees of Bolt, Vimeo, Printify, PandaDoc, Pipedrive, and others.
