Tallinn-based Superangel opened an office in Stockholm to invest in Swedish startups

Estonian investment firm Superangel opened an office in Stockholm to invest in Swedish startups. In 2023, it plans to make another five to eight investments in startups from the Nordic countries, one-third of which will be from Sweden.

In 2022, the investment firm closed its €50M fund to invest mainly in startups from the Nordic countries. One of the anchor investors was the Estonian SmartCap Venture Capital Fund, a subsidiary of the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency. SmartCap supported Superangel with €15M. The other investors were Estonian LHV pension funds and Superangel’s team, which committed 10% of the fund.

Founded in 2018 in Tallinn by Veljo Otsason and Rain Rannu, the fund focuses on pre-seed and seed investment in the Baltics and Nordics. The General Partners are Marko Oolo and Mikko Silventola. The fund focuses on deep tech and AI, mobility and logistics, fintech, and SaaS. A typical ticket size is between €300K and €800K. Superangel backed Bolt, Veriff, Pipedrive, Starship Technologies and Nordigen. This year, Superangel invested in two Nordic technology companies: Danish autonomous mobile robots for the retail industry Coalescent Mobile Robotics, and Finnish AR startup Doublepoint.
