Estonian VC Lemonade Stand invested in UK reproductive healthcare startup Fertifa
Estonian VC Lemonade Stand invested in the UK startup Fertifa, which provides reproductive healthcare services. A £5M seed round was led by London-based venture company Notion Capital and UK investment company Triple Point Ventures. US-based investment firms Conviction, and Tiny.vc, Austrian Calm/Storm, Swedish investor and incubator EQT Foundation, and business angels, including the founder of London-based carbon removal registry and science platform Isometric Eamon Jubbawy, participated in this round. Among existing investors are co-founder of UK fintech Monzo Tom Blomfield and others.
Founded in London in 2019 by Tony Chen and Nick Kuan, the startup offers support in the reproductive healthcare of employees. The companies can choose among different care plans. The healthcare program includes fertility care, baby loss support, care and treatment during conception, fertility preservation (like egg, embryo, and sperm freezing), clinical advice, and treatment during menopause. The startup's advisors provide treatment for men, including prostate cancer or testing fertility, as well as for women - care and cure for endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, breast cancer, and others.
Apart from consultations, care, and treatment, employees can join workshops, webinars, and podcasts, and get access to the reproductive health literature. It is possible to make an appointment online seven days a week. The service also provides at-home finger-prick blood tests and drug delivery.
Among Fertifa’s clients are Meta, Bain Capital, Virgin, Sotheby’s, and Amadeus. The startup monetizes through a per-employee per month pricing model.
The founders, Tony Chen and Nick Kuan left Fertifa but remained its shareholders. In 2022, the existing investor Eileen Burbidge was appointed as an executive director of the company.
Fertifa will use the investment to launch new services like treatment financing and scale up its enterprise sales. This year, it plans to grow in the UK market, and in 2024, in the EMEA region.
Founded in Tallinn in 2019 by Siim Teller, Lemonade Stand invests in early-stage tech companies from the Baltic and East European regions. The initial ticket ranges from €25K to €300K
