Latvian mobility startup Meredot secured $120K from US-based accelerator Techstars
Riga-based EV wireless charging Meredot raised $120K from US-based accelerator Techstars.
Founded in Riga in 2019 by Roman Bysko and Roman Yershov, Meredot developed wireless chargers (pads) for electric scooters, material handling carts, e-shopping carts, electric wheelchairs, food delivery robots, and others. The technology provides a misalignment tolerance of up to 10 cm, allowing users to charge the vehicle in different positions. The distance between the charging pad and the receiver can be up to 10sm. Meredot can install either a single charging pad or up to 10 pads per station.
The startup also offers a solution to manage a vehicle battery and fleet through Meredot's portal, in which the user can track a docked vehicle and a battery charge remotely. In addition, it is possible to create a custom integration with the user's software.
Meredot has offices in Ukraine and the US. The startup joined Techstars acceleration program Alabama Energytech, which took place in Birmingham, Alabama. The program started in September. The accelerator usually gives investment in two parts - $20K as venture investments and $100K as convertible notes. Apart from investment, the participants receive mentorship, resources, and valuable networks. The managing director of the program is Matthew Jaeh. Out of twelve startups of this batch, Meredot was the only one based in Europe.
