Estonian ordering platform for hospitality businesses Biteful raised €220K
Estonian ordering platform for restaurants, cafes, bars, food trucks, and hotels Biteful raised €220K from Estonian accelerator and VC StartupWiseGuys, Tallinn-based Specialist VC, and Robert Hegedüs, a founding partner of Budapest-based venture fund Fiedler Capital. €100K was injected by Specialist VC, €100K - by StartupWiseGuys, and €20K - by Robert Hegedüs. The startup received this investment during the third B2B SaaS acceleration program in Bilbao, organized by Startup Wise Guys.
Founded in Tallinn in 2022 by Dominik Sklyarov and Ricko Tamme, Biteful first started as a marketplace for restaurants and suppliers, which had to be present on the platform to connect and cooperate with each other. According to the startup, this approach was complex, and the founders decided to switch to a more simple ordering platform with only one side on the platform. Biteful pivoted at the end of January 2023.
Biteful is a platform, on which restaurants can order from any of their suppliers even if the last ones are not using Biteful. The restaurants join Biteful for free and start ordering. If they find their supplier on Biteful, they can just select their products. If not, they can add the supplier's contact info, and products' names, and place an order. Then Biteful will send an order summary email to the supplier.
When non-Biteful suppliers get a lot of emails through Biteful, the startup’s team reaches out to them and suggests a partnership. Small suppliers can add up to 35 of their products to the platform and pay Biteful €2 for each order. There is also a fixed monthly fee for mid-sized suppliers, and large enterprises can sign a customer agreement with the startup.
In May 2023, the startup participated in Lithuanian Firstpick’s pre-accelerator program.
Launched in 2012, Estonian Startup Wise Guys is an accelerator that invests in early-stage startups from the Baltic, Central European, and African regions. It has invested in more than 350 startups and had 13 exits.
Founded in Tallinn in 2017, Specialist VC is a venture capital firm supporting companies from the Baltic region, Finland and Ukraine. Usually, it starts financing from €250K. At the beginning of 2022, Specialist VC launched a new €50M, which gets support from Estonian LHV pension funds and the European Investment Fund through the European Guarantee Fund and the Baltic Innovation Fund 2. Specialist VC's partners are Kaspar Hanni, Riivo Anton, Tõnu Esko, and Gerri Kodres.
