Estonian health diagnostics startup MX Labs raises investment

Estonian developer of software technology for measuring people's vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, or respiration MX Labs has raised investment from Finland's Superhero Capital, Tilia Impact Ventures, and Poland's Simpact Ventures in a Series A. The investment amount was not disclosed.

Founded in Tallinn in 2020 by Remigiusz Koscielny and Przemysław Jaworski and based in Wrocław, MX Labs has developed a mobile application called Shen.AI that uses a phone's camera, AI, and computer vision technologies to monitor vital signs such as heart function to enable early detection and management of hypertension. The company uses photoplethysmography (rPPG), a facial scanning technology, to obtain information about changes in light absorption by the user's facial skin. These changes are recorded in the RGB pixel values of camera images and converted into various physiological indicators. As a result, the application measures heart rate, heart rate variability, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), respiratory rate, and other indicators that help identify cardiovascular risks, including high blood pressure.

MX Labs uses the investment to develop Shen.AI technology further and strengthen its presence in the market.

In 2023, the startup received €100K from Estonian Cocoon Ventures during the Tartu-based Startup Day.
